Integrative Medicine

In our new facility, we work closely with complementary health care practitioners, such as acupuncturist Charles Murdock or chiropractors Erik and Vicki Hemmett. See www.easternviewvt.com for more information about other services offered in our building.

We may refer you for acupuncture for hot flashes or fertility treatments, to chiropractic for pelvic pain in pregnancy or to help a breech baby turn. We may suggest hypnotherapy to process stored emotions from traumatic childbirth, suggest nutritional counseling for weight loss, or craniosacral therapy for colicky babies. Before surgery, we may suggest psychotherapy or hypnotherapy, and afterward we may suggest physical therapy, yoga or meditation. We may suggest consultation with a spiritual counselor or health consultant if you need clarification about your goals or health. The individuals practicing in our building are skilled professionals, and we encourage you to try these services, even if this would be the first time.

Our use of integrative medicine is a part of our overall philosophy of health care and wellness. We have specific, state of the art medical skills to help treat specific conditions. We base all of our medical decisions on rigorous scientific data and established standards of care. However, your healing and health are dependent on a mind/body/spirit approach which involves more than medicines and surgery. The other practitioners in our building can help you to strengthen your body, while we are treating other conditions. Some of these practices have good scientific evidence to support the work, some may help you feel better, but may not have strong scientific data to demonstrate efficacy. For example, we want to help you to live a meaningful and healthy life, and may suggest a walk in the sunshine to help you feel better, even though this is not based on science. We encourage you to think about your health as yours, to use all resources possible to be healthy.
